shirt/boots/necklace/belt~ all vintage, thrifted
new loves
cardigan~ Banana Republic, swap
jeans~ F21
i am sure not many people other than me would have bought this shirt when they spied it at the thrift store (okay, i am almost 100% sure megan would have, too. we both have the same penchant for ugly, vintage items). a semi-ugly (so ugly, it's cute!), vintage, handmade, maternity shirt with an elephant, cat and giraffe print is a must have, right? apparently i thought so, because i remember grabbing it off the rack like it was the last piece of pizza and throwing it into my cart while doing a little victory dance. and i wasn't even pregnant yet. yes. sad, i know. i was planning on hopefully being pregnant in the near future. that makes it better, right? you don't have to answer that. i think even mimi eyed me strangely, but that could have been because she recognized it was a maternity shirt and she was beginning to get suspicious. anyways, it is mine now. all mine (bahahahahahahaha)! and i finally had a chance to wear it. and let me tell you, i had that same excited feeling when pulling it out of my closet to put it on. and that tells me it must have been a good purchase. right? again, you don't have to answer that...
have a marvelous weekend!
xoxo, nora bird

Nora, your hair is so beautiful. It makes me want to cut mine. And your story is hilarious. I often pull items off racks and wonder, "Is it ugly, or is it awesome?" Yours is adorable! And funny without being a t-shirt. Bonus points.

I love it! I mean really, a giraffe, a cat, and an elephant all hangin' out on one shirt? Purchasing is a must.
ReplyDeleteI think it's freaking adorable! If ever have a baby someday I might have to borrow it from you! Too cute!
ReplyDeleteI think I would have gotten it for sure. It's so cute! I love the color on you. However, since it was a maternity shirt, I would have given it to you :)
ReplyDeleteThat shirt rocks and what a random assortment of animals! You look so cool with the boots and skinny jeans with it!
ReplyDeleteNora, you look perfect in this little number. I have one maternity item that I wear but nobody and I mean nobody knows that it is maternity. This is just an adorable, well put together outfit whether you are expecting or not...great colors too. Dawn suitcase vignettes xo

I love that second picture- it looks like the whole of you is in gradient, not just the cardigan! =]
ReplyDelete(raises hand) Me. I would have grabbed it too. And it's questionable that I would have put it back even after discovering it was maternity. :)

I have a serious weakness for cute/whimsical prints. So I would have snatched this off the rack too... :)

Ugly? Nah. Super adorable? Ya! I love the print of this top- you could totally dress it up with a plain skirt too!
ReplyDeletePersonally, I think it's unique and awesome, maternity shirt or not. I would wear it. But that's not saying much.
ReplyDeleteI'm probably one of those who would most likely pass it up without a second glance, but you pull it off beautifully!! I always admire those who have an eye for taking a less than ideal shirt and making it look fabulous!! As you have. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for swinging over to my blog! Have a great weekend.
ps..glad the whales didn't tip your boat. hehe

You are quite possibly one of the cutest pregnant women ever. And I love the "it's so ugly it's cute" shirt.:)

Well, I routinely check the maternity clothes when I thrift because I like the roominess of the tops.

ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by! I definitely agree about the aqua jeans and that pretty little peter pan collar blouse you liked is called 'Blush Lace Trim Top' and it's sold at Dorothy Perkins for $39! STEAL! That top of yours is super cute and I love the way you combined it with the cardigan and belt. Don't be a stranger :)
ReplyDeleteThere is something marvelous about this shirt. I think without the sweater I probably wouldn't be able to handle all the red and animals, but the sweater keeps it looking amazing!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could pick out ugly things and make them cute!!

super cute top, it's such a delightful idea to use a kiddy fabric print for a maternity top. I like it, it's not ugly at all, it's totally quirky chic. You have an eye for great stuff. And I obviously missed a lot of your posts, or possible very blind, didn't know you were expecting. Congrats!

Oh my goodness, I did the exact same thing two weeks ago. I'm not pregnant either but I found a blouse with shoulder pads and embroidered baby carriages on it!! Haha so I had to buy it.
