i want to start off by saying a big thank you to all of you for your kind words and congratulations about my baby news! it was so lovely to read all of your comments. you are all so amazing and supportive and sweet...i was overwhelmed by your kindness! thank you so much!
yesterday, as i was taking my photos for this post, my mailman drove up, parked right in front of my house, and yelled out the open window of his postal truck, "SMILE, NOW"! and then proceeded to sit there and watch me while i took all of my outfit shots. so please excuse me if i look extra uncomfortable in all of my photos! i am not used to having an audience and it was very awkward and embarrassing!
this week's item is courtesy of our good friend, erin. she recently bought this dress from ModCloth and, unfortunately (or fortunately, for me!), it did not fit her. so she let me give it a whirl, and i just love it. so much so that i thought i would make it the remix item for the week and megan and i could both try our hand at styling it! let us know what you think!
outfit one: ruffles and faux leather
jacket/headband/tights~ Target

This Modcloth dress is adorable and I love that headband!!
ReplyDeleteUmmm I would have died if the mailman stopped and watched as I took outfit photos! You're brave to keep going. You should have asked him to jump into one of the shots :D
What an ammmmmazing dress! UGh no new 2012 is kinda painful when adorable dresses like this pop up...also the reason why my modcloth e-mails are going straight to a folder to reduce temptation :)
ReplyDeleteOh, that dress is so fun! I wish my friends were giving away cute Modcloth dresses.;) I'm always having people stare at me as I take my pictures. I'm sure my next door neighbor thinks I'm incredibly narcissistic, as I have my children and husband take pics of me all the time instead of the other way around!!

What a pretty dress!!! That's great you kept on taking pictures, I would have given up and tried later!

Cute dress!! I love Modcloth but have yet to order something from them. Very sweet of Erin to give it to you! I love the jacket with it Nora, and too funny about the mailman. Someday on my blog I'll share the story about the day my husband proposed to me - just because something similar happened. :) Megan you are rocking those boots - they're awesome!
ReplyDeleteLove the way you're giving the mailman the side-eye. I have yet to venture out on my own with my tripod to take outdoor pictures, so I applaud you. Two excellent stylings of an adorable dress.

That polka dot dress is killer! Love the colour and flow of it...and it's so fun that your two ways to wear make it look SO totally different! Both really cute.

The Suburb Experiment
AHAHA. You probably made the mailmans day. You both look adorable. I am really liking the ruffles and faux leather look :]
ReplyDeleteAhha I can't believe your mailman was watching you! You still look lovely though. I love this sister remix.

Yay for babies! That dress is cute, so it is too bad it didn't fit Erin, but it is a win for you!
ReplyDeleteYour poor friend! That dress is so beautiful, I would be so sad if I bought it and it didn't fit me. Oh well, win for you. I really love the ruffles and faux leather look. Also, your mailman sounds like a mixture between cute and creepy... odd mix lol
ReplyDeleteRemixing is one of my favourite things in the blog world so I really enjoy seeing the different takes on a piece in your posts. Love the rust hue and adorable polka dots on that dress. It's neat that you both added a rugged element but both looks are completely different.
ReplyDeleteadorable. i love the first outfit, but i love the cowboy boots in the second outfit. also- this neighborhood is very cute. adorable houses.
ReplyDeleteYes that dress is AWESOME. I kiiiind of need those heartbreaker boots. You ladies are great. And WTF about the mail man? CREEPY
ReplyDeleteI need to buy myself a sister that wears the same size as me lol. You two look great as usual...btw, youve been tagged on my blog, hope you can participate :)

That dress is absolutely gorgeous and I love each way you've styled it.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you managed it, cheeky bugger! I would have run away with my tail between my legs. You should have made him pose for you!!
You two look lovely as usual! Congratulations, the family will grow, it's so sweet!
ReplyDeleteI normally don't comment much because I'm lazy to sign in on wordpress - and that's the only way I can comment on some blogs! But I really wanted to say congratulations, then I signed in today!
I just had one Inspiration Monday this year, because it's been difficult; I'm spending holidays in a very hot weather place, but in 2 weeks I'll go back to the UK and Inspiration will be easier for me!
That dress is a beautiful color. It works really well with both of your skin tones and I love it as a dress and also more of a skirt for the second.
ReplyDeleteThe mailman sounds creepy! If I take them in my street (I often do) my neighbor sits in his garage drinking all day and he whistles at me. It's so terribly weird. I think we can file this under "fashion blogger problems".
Love both of your takes on this dress. So cute.
ReplyDeleteYour mailman is a little bit of an odd one I think.
Julie
I'm a little late I know, but congratulations Nora!! How exciting :) I love this adorable polka dotted dress. I need more dots in my closet!
ReplyDeleteI adore both outfits! hehe and that thing about the postman made me laugh! :D
ReplyDeletecallmemaddie.blogspot.com
I love both your outfits! You took that dress in such different style-directions but both stylings look fantastic. It looks great with the leather jacket and headband, and so cute with the cowboy boots and chambray!
ReplyDeleteI love this dress! I think it looks very cute with the leather jacket. :)
