there is a lot to be happy about this week. our sale is in two days, it's gorgeous outside (considering the date), we have the best friends and family anyone could ever ask for, and.....

tuesday remix: sister style

ugh. i just watched sunday night's episode of The Walking Dead and now i am depressed. i'm just going to move right along to the remix...

it was megan's pick this week and she chose this cool poncho-y sweater she got at H&M. super cute and very on trend for the season. i had a bit of a hard time styling it. not because i couldn't think of a ton of ways i wanted to wear it. no. it is just so cozy and soft and comfy and all i wanted to do was wrap myself in it and lay on the couch with a good book and a cup of tea and be done with it. but alas, i put on clothes. only for you guys. i vow to always put on clothes for you! let us know what you think of the remix!

inspiration monday: this bud's for you

help me settle an argument. it all starts with karaoke. we talk an awful lot about karaoke on our blog, i realize. talk about what you love, they say. so, you will hear a lot about our kids and karaoke (in that order). anyways, back to the argument. i went out to a fabulous night of karaoke with allison, becky, erin and kimi on wednesday night. being the night before thanksgiving, i decided to take it easy on the nut brown ales. after three, i was done...that is until kimi and i sang our rockin' rendition of 'you're the one that i want' by danny and sandy. ok, it wasn't rockin' at all, it probably sucked (i mean, except kimi was awesome). we came back to our table and the waitress appeared with two beers and told us that some gentlemen at the bar enjoyed our song so much that they wanted to buy us a beer. and here is where the argument started...

you see, when i told chris about the funny incident, he assured me that these kind men did not, in fact, send us the beers because they truly enjoyed our singing. he told me that they wanted us to come over, say thank you, and see where the night took us. he said it's an easy way for men to get women to talk to them.

i see his point, except...when the waitress brought us our beers, she gave us no indication which men bought us the beers and, as such, we were not even given an opportunity to walk over and say thank you.

so there you have it, the argument. i am the trusting person who thinks that men can buy women a drink with no expectations. chris however, is the sceptic who believes that men think nothing comes for free. what do you think?

and on to the inspiration (aside from our glorious singing, that is) for the day. nora found this fab texas (or canadian depending on where you are from) tuxedo outfit that jessica alba is rocking. i love her easy boho style, and she is one of the celebrities whom i would dress like on an almost daily basis.

a holiday family photo shoot

we forget to send out holiday photos in time every year. so, this morning, i got the kids all dressed and made them sit outside in the cold (in the manner of any true fashion blogger kids) and we took a few photos for our card. here's a sampling.

i think they turned out pretty good, even though you can tell we are cold (henry in particular). do you send out holiday cards every year? do you send them out in time? ours may still not get out in time, even though i have now documented the fact that we do indeed have a photo!

black (sick) friday

sorry for the lack of a post today. nora bird is out of town visiting her in-laws, and me...well i've been kind of sick all day. i'm not quite sure what it is, but i have a fever and even started crying this morning because my neck and shoulders hurt so bad. not that i was planning on being one of the zillions of people waking up at 3am to shop, but instead of enjoying this beautiful day, here is what i did.

and then when i couldn't take lying around anymore, i decided to paint my son's bedroom

painting is a pretty sure-fire way to sweat out the fever.

so now i am back in my robe, snuggling with the kids. hopefully i will be back at 100% tomorrow.

i tried and tried to find a celeb that we hadn't featured yet. okay, i didn't try that hard. when i saw this outfit that ms. alba wore on a recent outing with her hubby and kids, i thought to myself, "how cute! i would totally wear that"! and so, once again, jessica will be our inspiration for monday. next week we will try to find someone new, i swear!

thankful

happy thanksgiving!

we are so thankful to all of you who take time to visit us here and leave us sweet comments to read every day! it really means so much to us and we truly count you all among our friends! thank you so much!

we also wanted to share a few photos of our family who we are also so thankful for! we wouldn't be the women we are today without these amazing people that we get to share our lives with. thank you all for being so incredibly fabulous! we are so blessed.
