i have a question for all of you thrifters out there. do you ever buy something you find at the thrift store simply because of the label? it might not be quite your style or quite your size, but you see that fancy name on the label and you just can't turn away? i'll admit, i sometimes do. and that was the case with this blazer. it was not something i would normally pick out. it is cute, but not totally 'me', you know? there was a big ugly button on it (that i promptly removed after purchasing the blazer and have yet to replace). and it could be tailored to fit me a bit better (which, honestly, who knows if i will ever have done). but when i saw the Armani Collezioni label, i knew i had to buy it. now, i know Armani Collezioni is no Giorgio Armani or Armani Prive, but i do know that it normally sells for way more than i can afford. with a quick check on nordstrom.com, i saw that they are selling blazers with this label for upwards of $1000. i found this one at the thrift store. it was marked $5.99 and i got another 40% off because it was senior discount day and i just happened to be with my mom! score! but the thing is, it has been sitting in my closet, totally forgotten, since i bought it months ago. and this is the first time i have worn it. so perhaps it wasn't such a great score after all...thoughts???

That blazer is FAB!!! You look great!
ReplyDeleteNora darling, yes I do this a lot. You should grab those Classics. This looks fabulous on you and I love how you have paired it, it shines. Great jump my lovely bird. Dawn Suitcase Vignettes xo
ReplyDeleteI think the blazer is super cute, and I especially like it with the jeans.
ReplyDeleteI like the blazer, and I don't think it is too big at all! I am the same way at a thrift store but that goodness the Hubby is usually there saying "it's just a name honey" and then I usually put it back... but if by myself ... you bet it will be coming home with me!!

Oh, I'm always tempted by names on the label. I love the pattern on that one - I think you scored a great deal. If anything, you could turn around and re-sell it for much more!

I think you look great! I think you made it your own. And yes, I buy things for the labels a lot. It's usually crazy well-made and I can give them to friends when they don't fit. I'm even planning on going to Goodwill's Glitter sale (where they put aside all the "best" labels for 2 days of shopping madness). Whee!

ReplyDeleteVery cool, I've never scored something this awesome before, but I think this is a great piece for your wardrobe. Classic, you'll wear it forever!
ReplyDeleteLove your accessories. Ring and necklace are divine

This happens to me all the time. In the end, I always end up going through a period of love with the wanderers in my closet. Perhaps you will love her very soon and you won't know how you did without her.

I actually love the blazer. A lot! I do the same thing. I have some lets say "fluffier" friends and I love when I find a good deal for them. I just don't always tell them where I got it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting on my sad, dreary might loose my job post. I appreciate it. I really didn't think you guys liked me!
Hope you have a great weekend. I know I will!
I am the proud owner of a DVF dress, one size too small. The product of an over-zealous thrift. I keep hoping it will just randomly start fitting, but it may end up going to my skinny sister for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteFor what it's worth, I love the blazer!
haha the tag can definitely be an influencer for me, but usually it's only a tie-breaker ;-) this little number is chic! love how it works on you. adoring that jumping pic too haha super cute. <3 www.rubygirlblog.com
ReplyDeleteI think the blazer is really sharp, it doesn't look to big on you!
ReplyDeleteAs for designer's impacting my thrifting choices I haven't encountered that yet... most of the clothes in the salvation army around here are strait up 60s or mall/chain store clothes! I think i would be tempted though, depending on the price!
I love the blazer and I think it looks great on you! You did a great job of styling it to make it your own. I think it's still a pretty good score. :)
ReplyDeleteoooh dear! I know exactly what you mean... I am a self-diagnosed thrift-a-holic. And when you see that designer label, you start to see things through rose-tinted glasses. Maybe try pairing it with different things you wouldn't normally do (like belting it at your natural waist?) and see if you can play with it to make it more "you"?
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog and am a new follower,
hope you'll check out mine! :)

I'm not even a thrifter (yet), but I say this jacket is definite pick-up! I think it looks great on you.
ReplyDeleteI love it! My rule is a dollar per use. If I spend 30 bucks on jeans, I must wear them at least 30 times. Which, usually happens. May sound strange to something under 5 bucks, but I could have spend 5 bucks on something else. So, yeah, not sure if that helps!
ReplyDeleteYes, sometimes I'm tempted by a brand too--it's hard to turn down for such a bargain! I really like this blazer, and maybe you can add a funky button to it to make it you!
ReplyDeleteTotally guilty. If not the thrift store, then the clearance rack. It's a horrible habit.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, you are totally working the blazer.
How delicious would that blazer be with some red underneath? Hello NC State tailgate! Yummy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your sweet comment on my blog. I knew I would love yours before I even got past your profile description. I'm your newest follower :) I love that whimsical ring, and the pattern on your Armani jacket!
ReplyDeleteIt is difficult to know what is going on exactly.
