do you ever feel skinny until you put on a pair of freshly washed jeans? why don't bangs grow faster? why do ugly bangs have such an effect on my mood? why can't you reason with a four-year old girl? why did i have to clean my house before the cleaning person came today? (before you judge, we got a groupon for a house cleaning, we do not have a regular house cleaner.) why don't we have a regular house cleaner? why was i in such a rush this morning that i didn't have time to eat breakfast? (see "why can't you reason with a four-year old girl" for the answer.) why did my subway egg white on flatbread stink up the entire elevator?
ok, that last one i don't really care about. it was more funny than anything else. of course i get on an elevator with eight other people, and all i can smell (and i'm assuming all they can smell) is the funky fart-like smell of my egg white sammie. sounds appetizing, no? well, it's delicious – i don't care what it smells like!
thanks for letting me rant. anyone have anything to add? feel free, i'm all ears! but first i need a little advice from you. i got this shirt a while back and have only worn it once. i wore it out to a restaurant for nora's birthday party. i got a lot of looks, and one, "my daughter really loves your sparkly shirt" comment. i do love it, but i don't have many occasions to wear it. i don't really care about being overdressed in situations, but this might be a bit much for an easy night out. as i was going through my closets to figure out what to get rid of for the garage sale this weekend, this one came out as a tentative. nora has a way of convincing me to keep things (unless she likes it), and told me that i should keep this. so i slept on it, and then i tried it on, then i took pictures so you could all help me. so, should i keep it?

Yes!! That shirt is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteErm, wait. I mean, no. You should probably sell it. ;)
Yeah that shirt's pretty awesome. You should keep it.
ReplyDeleteAlso my mother DOES have a house cleaner, it only costs her like 50$ ever other week, he even wipes down her baseboards. It's the most amazing thing. When I become an actual home owner I will absolutely pay someone to do my dusting. No shame in that at all.
Um, yes on the skinny jeans... was just there yesterday!! AND as for the top?! It's a must keep in my opinion, such a fabulous top and you could wear it SO many different ways, love, love it!! Happy Friday. xx veronika
ReplyDeleteMy brother always used to try to reason with my daughter when she was 2 years old. It was hilarious to watch his frustration.
ReplyDeleteI think the top looks great on you, but if you don't absolutely love it, I'd say that it goes. That way it'll go to a girl who'll wear it often, and it makes room in your closet for something you really love.
If you like it, I say keep it! It would look awesome with some flared jeans, or a fun flouncy skirt for dancing. I'm all for wearing things that are fun and make ya feel good, regardless all the funny stares.
ReplyDeleteI just want to know why it has to be calling for rain tomorrow! Friends and I were supposed to go hiking, and I actually had to decline hanging out with another dear friend because of it and now it looks like I won't get to do either, boo!
I like the shirt. I must have missed your previous garage sale post, but now I think I may need to head over to Minneapolis tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteYou are gorgeous! Keep the top. I've been looking for something similar to wear with jeans.
ReplyDeleteWhy would we judge you for hiring someone to help with the maintenance of your home. You are providing someone income for a job they want to do in a very challenging economy. What's ironic is, in my part of town, you'd probably get "judged" if you didn't have a housekeeper. Us humans are crazy, aren't we. ; )
KEEP!
ReplyDeleteOh boy what a morning! I totally feel you on the washed jeans and especially on the bangs!! Seriously, it's such a problem for me that I'm growing my bangs out to a side-swept bang/ fringe. So sick of them getting butchered half the time I get them trimmed. You have every right to vent! :D Moving on to the shirt, I saw keep it for now and staple a note around the hanger with today's date. If in three months you still haven't worn it then it's time to say goodbye!

i LOVE that shirt! it would be perfect to throw on for a date night if the rest of your look was super casual....boyfriend jeans (are we still doing those?) or better yet, skinny cargos (not freshly washed) and some wedge heels. oh how i love a hilarious two birds post on a friday morning :)
ReplyDeleteLoved reading your vent. Makes me feel very normal as I go through those vents everyday to myself it seems.
ReplyDeleteI do by the way have a regular house cleaner that comes every week. It is the one luxury I will not get rid of. In college I used to spend a good portion of my weekend cleaning then my tiny apt so the first time I started making real money I hired them and have never gone back. It is actually the same ladies for all those years and after 3 houses!
Anyway, the top is very cool. May be if you try to dress it down you would wear it more often. Like over jeans with boots topped with a utility jacket/parka look.

love those shoes!! why don't my thrift stores have cool things like Jessica Simpson shoes!?
ReplyDeleteDON'T YOU DARE GET RID OF THAT SHIRT!!!!!!!
ReplyDelete**unless you're going to send it to me**
you can wear it with some distressed cropped jeans and flats, or tucked into a pencil skirt, or with jeans and a blazer on top, or just as you're wearing it now. it's too wonderful to give away! you may regret it, and one day your baby girl will read this post and 1) apologize for being unreasonable and 2) ask if she can borrow/have that shirt. you don't want to deny your daughter the chance to sparkle!
whew, that got me all worked up!
but, for real, don't get rid of it!
also, venting is good. that was me last week. i just wanted to whine about EVERYTHING. it's nothing a glass (or 4) of wine can't fix!

awkwardly chic
i changed my mind. don't keep it. i'll just take it off your hands. no need to thank me.
ReplyDeleteHello it's a keeper because it looks phenomenal on you. Borrow Nora's black skinnies and rock it with those great shoes you have on. I like the open toe with the dressy top and large thin silver hoops and shiny lipgloss. I love your bangs/hair in this post. Dawn Suitcase Vignettes xo
ReplyDeleteAMAZING shirt! lovely lovely....

Love the shirt. Keep it. Also I have the same question regarding a 4yr old boy and a 3 yr old girl. Suggestions welcome on that one.
ReplyDeleteI really like the shirt! I think you should keep it.
ReplyDeleteLove this shirt! So fun and stunning!

I love this shirt and frankly, I think the way you've styled it is perfect and proves that you should keep it.
ReplyDeletei say you should keep it! it's so beautiful! you could do it with a cute little cardi, tucked into a pencil skirt...it'd totally tone down the sparkle a little and make it more wearable. but it fits you so nicely! i say keep!

So What If I Like Pretty Things
I think you look fabulous! Keep it!!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a keeper :)
ReplyDeleteugly bangs totally have an effect on my mood too!! haha! i love listening to people vent.. makes me realize that my venting is completely normal :) and personally, i love the shirt! you may not have a ton of occasions to wear it, but something about it seems effortlessly chic. like you wouldn't have to worry about styling it because it's the statement piece! i say keep for sure!
ReplyDeletei love the top! its so great to have sparkle like that for day. i feel like there were some times where the sparkle was everywhere but really had longevity!
ReplyDeleteEndless Nights
Oh, wow...I love that kind of stuff. I like it? If you like it, keep it. Here's my gripe to add, "Why do we feel like we have to explain why we have someone come in to clean sometimes? We're all women here, so why don't we just say, "You go, girl! Hire somebody to clean that house!" I say let's all encourage each other and judge the judgers! Debbie http://thriftygirlvintage.com
ReplyDeletecute outfit, love your top! x
ReplyDeleteYour blog is great!would you like to follow each other?
