i needed a little humor today. i was reading a blog yesterday (sorry, can't remember which one) and she claimed that forever 21 sold items called "dresses" that really weren't. so i thought i'd take a gander around the internets and find some pics of "not dresses"
sorry, i will stop with the britney photos...i just couldn't help myself!
don't get me wrong people, i am all about showing off your gams! i just wonder how some of these ladies don't also show off their lady bits in the process. how do you sit, or get out of a car?
what are your thoughts? would you wear this short of a dress? or would you ever wear a shirt as a dress? i hope i don't sound judgmental, cause i'm not – maybe i'm just jealous. however, no one wants to see my cheeks, so i think i will wear shorts with my shirts from now on.
xoxo,
megan bird
I feel the same way! Sometimes I wonder why tunics/shirts are labeled "dresses" when they obviously aren't! Even if I had the longest, most shapely legs, I would never be caught in something super short that I can't sit down without exposing my butt.
ReplyDeletehaha, this post and your comments made me laugh. I remember when Britney kept wearing shirts as dresses. These are all extremely short. I think sometimes (like on Eva) it can be pulled off because she is so petite and doesn't have super long legs but they rest definitely look WAY too short. Nice post

OH MY GOSH! SO ridiculous. I am super pop culture deprived, so I've totally never seen any of these. I am so appalled... YES. I just used that word that my grandmother might. That is so so so not attractive at all :O
ReplyDeleteLOLOLOLOL! i love the captions. we all know i (nora) am guilty of wearing short skirts! but i am going to put myself in the eva longoria category of petite. right? right? okay, i know. i am no eva longoria. time to take the hems out...
ReplyDeleteHahaha, that might have been me complaining about the F21 "dresses" that even at my short 5'0 stature I have to pull down! Love the captions!!! "I'm not a dress, not yet a tunic" <- most awesome thing I've read all day!

HAHAHA! This is brilliant! I tried shopping at F21 for a new year's eve dress last year and was sorely disappointed that at nearly 22, I am way too old (and frankly, too curvy & not exhibitionist enough) for their dresses! Too funny :)
ReplyDeleteYour captions are the best (I especially loved the Britney ones!) I feel uncomfortable starting around three inches above my knee. Did you ever read "Daddy Likey" she hasn't blogged in a while but did a whole bunch of these and it was crazy to see how many stores are selling shirts as dresses!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't and I couldn't. I'd spend the entire time trying not to move. Not an inch. In any direction... and I'm forever dropping things. Me and not-dresses simply weren't meant to be.
ReplyDeleteI would wear something that short in the fall with opaque tights, but I would still wear bloomers over the tights.
ReplyDeleteI used to work in an office, and a girl wore a dress this short to work, sans tights, and got so offended when we had her go home to change. She thought she was being discriminated against for having long legs.
Hah you are right...these are a good bit of humor. :) I don't think I could ever wear a shirt/dress this short! Especially like Britney showing off the goods! hah Definitely would have to wear shorts, tights, or leggings under these outfits.
ReplyDeleteAlso wanted to say thanks for stopping by my blog! I appreciate it!
Brit is quite the repeat offender! haha- once my sister gave me a hand me down "dress" that didn't 'fit her- I put it on and laughed, and later saw it sold at Express as a tunic. Silly sister...
ReplyDeleteoh my word. too funny! i love this post. i was wearing this cozy little dress-ish thing yesterday and hubby goes... "you wouldn't wear that OUT would you?" ah ha. too short for comfort! <3 EverRubyGirl.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteYikes!!! I don't think I could pull this off, well maybe with a cute pair of bloomers or something like that underneath?? Oh and only if I had legs like those women! haha!!
ReplyDeleteAhh and no sitting or getting out of cars, so I would have to walk everywhere!! LOL!
cute cute blog! hilarious post! Thanks so much for the comment. following :)

Haha, sooo funny, I love the captions of each photo :)) I do agree with you. I think women shouldn't be afraid of flaunting what they've got, but we have to be careful of revealing too much as well. I really wouldn't be caught in any of those pseudo-dresses!
ReplyDelete;)) I find such dresses really uncomfortable, you can't do anything in them! but brands seem to make them, so someone has to wear them :)
ReplyDeleteMy SIL just graduated from college, and she and all her friends buy those "dresses" from F21 to actually wear as dresses. I've tried to no avail to convince her to put on some pants, but alas - my pleas have fallen on deaf ears.
ReplyDeletelol, it's soo true! F21 dress ARE shirts on me... I'm 6 feet tall and most of them would literally show of the lady bits if I wore them alone. Yikes.
ReplyDeleteSeeing all these pics all in one go is making me squirm and want to hand out free skirts to these lovelies. xo
ReplyDeletehahahahahahah. awesome. I couldn't help but think of Nora's red skirt. (hot.) I am just now feeling comfortable with shorts, so no, I would not rock a shirt as a dress, because even dresses look like shirts on me. These all made me laugh...I was singing to Cayla last night: If you like it than you shoulda put a scamp on it. Have had that song in my head for days now!
ReplyDeleteThis post was hilarious! Those Britney pics...oy. Haha. I'm really short, so I actually can wear F21 dresses without having to constantly pull them down. :)
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHAHA!!
ReplyDeleteYou are such a brilliant caption writer! I laughed out loud at all of these. :)

So What If I Like Pretty Things
Oh, you two little birds! Always a good time on this blog! I had a friend tell me they were called family gems. Who knew we were all so wealthy!
ReplyDeleteWhen in doubt, I wear leggings. Nice, thick leggings.
ReplyDeleteThat's kind of (definitely) what I thought about my Inspiration Monday post. I look at it now and I'm like "could ya put on some pants for God's sake!?!" Anyway, I'm going to do a better job next week ;-)

PS It really is a dress, I just have long legs as you can see from my knee high boots that don't get anywhere near my knees...
totally agree...too short for comfort, cleavage is fine but sorry no butt cheeks please.

I'm cracking up over those captions, especially "not a dress, not yet a tunic." lol
ReplyDeleteI like short dresses (not THAT short though) because I'm 5'3" and they make my legs look longer. Although the last couple years I've had to choose: do I want to look like a stump, or do I want everyone to see my big fat thighs? I usually opt to let the cellulite hang out. It's never going away; may as well get used to it.
vanessa's shir it very cute! I like this one!
ReplyDeleteLOL!!!! This made me laugh!!! I agree with you 2348979%!!!

i'll admit i often wear tunics as dresses because i'm, well, short. but my rule is i gotta sit down and feel something on my butt cuz i'm sooo not having cheeks on a cold chair. but a lot of those dresses those celebrities are wearing are waaaaayyyy short!
