inspiration monday: high-waist not, want not

happy monday, all! i hope your weekends were fantabulous. eva and i went to a mommy/daughter tea party on sunday and it was so fun. we ate homemade popovers and cucumber sandwiches and eva got to wear her very best high-tea dress. i wore what i thought was going to be my inspiration monday outfit to the party, and after i saw pictures of the outfit, i decided that i needed to never wear these specific jeans again. some bodies just weren't made for super wide-leg jeans, and i will concede that i am one of them. so after a few changes and a few photo shoots later, here's what i came up with. i  love high-waisted pants...i think i just need to find some that are not so loose and/or wide legged. but i do have these vintage pants, and i won't get rid of them. they are a perfect pair of pants that fit me just right in the waist, and just for that reason, i love them.

here is today's inspiration:

and here is my take:

chris always takes one last picture of me when i think we are done. it usually ends up as a picture of me walking towards him, holding my hand out for the camera. he thinks it's funny. today i beat him to the punch and belted out my best kissy face.

so kisses everyone! i can't wait to see all of your takes on this outfit! have a great monday!!

xoxo,
megan bird

  1. You look great!!! You got that scarf just right, the necklace is gorg. and high waist pants are a perfect fit. I really like this outfit on you and my favorite photo is #4 and my 2nd fav. is #3. You should wear this again. It is early yet but I will get to mine soon. Have a great day and that tea party sounds so fun...!!! With prom season coming up I was thinking it would be fun to do a thrifted/vintage prom dress link in June...let me know what you think? I ran it by Kris at Thrifty LA Life too.... 2. I love your high waist pants. I would love to find a pair for myself; I think they are very 70's. I love your head scarf and I like how you personalized the look. Sounds like a fun Sunday. Enjoy every minute because that old cliche is true...they do grow up too fast! Mine certainly are. And thanks for hosting the most fun link-up! I look forward to this every week.

  4. I still don't know how I feel about high-waisted pants as I have not tried them yet. They look good on other people, but with hips and a baby gut, I don't know if they would work for me.

And I agree with Debbie, this is a fun link-up, and I look forward to it every week!

  8. I like the look on you especially the accessories. I would've liked to see the look you felt didn't work for you. You could've done a "do" and "don't" post. Gotta go put my outfit together!

  9. Hi y'all! I'm not linking up this week as I've not really made an outfit out of the inspiration, I just moped around why I didn't do it (fail.). Here's the link nonetheless: Half an Inspiration...

Oh and @Daisy... That is completely true and a little sad. But I'm a German blogger, I just write in English to be able to participate in all the fun things the US (or international) bloggers cook up :-D But I'd love to see more German (speak: local) bloggers going down that road!

Um, I messed up my linky. Any way you can fix it? Mondays bring out the stupid in me. It should say the name of my blog, not my name, dur.

  22. Had a great time linking up with your blog for my first official Two Birds IM! I really enjoyed seeing everyone's take on the look and also really enjoyed feeling inspired to get dressed with purpose on Monday!
I love your pants and where they hit you at the waist...this is what I was talking about in my blog. These are probably a good 2 inches above your belly button?? Very flattering. Also love the way you styled the outfit with the scarf and necklace. Awesome look and awesome fun!
Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier today:-)

  23. I like your color combo so much better. I felt her outfit was lacking some luster. I just matched it perfectly cause I could!

  25. I LOOOVE the inspiration photo. Every time I see that one, I'm reminded of how much I love Katie Holme's style. I just wish I could find that exact pair of jeans! So amazing!

  26. I have to say that I love your take MUCH more than Katie Holmes'. You look more natural and comfortable.

  27. Thanks for the comment on my link! =) The H&M jeans I found at Maplewood Mall. I'm sure they have them at other locations, but just to warn you, there weren't many left! They were towards the front of the store. Good luck!

  29. I'm still not sure how I feel about high waisted pants. I mean give me a high waisted skirt anyday and I will be as happy as a clam. Pants (or shorts) on the other hand.... I'm just not sure my thighs need more attention to them! haha

I think your take on it works perfectly for you though! Love the colourful headband to!
