room for inspiration

i have talked before about how i share my love of fashion with my love for decorating. i believe they go hand in hand (at least in my life). i love to be inspired by colors, items and feelings in the way i dress and in the way i decorate. so i got to thinking...do clothes inspire rooms? do rooms inspire clothing? in some ways, the answer has to be yes. look at stores like anthropologie and urban outfitters. their housewares and furniture are just as stylish as their clothing. so i've come up with a few inspirational outfits and rooms to match.

the inspiration

giorgio armani gown
the rooms
don't you just want to sip champagne in this lovely outdoor patio?
try not falling asleep the minute your head hits the pillow!

the inspiration
tropical maxi dress

the rooms
do you know anyone who can fit a setee in their bathroom???

every day is a vacation in this room

the inspiration
nautical
the rooms
every kid's dream room

the inspiration
swingin' 50s
the rooms
i want to eat here every night
and my dream wall

the inspiration
cowgirl chic
the rooms
wake up to the rooster's crow
i also want to eat here every morning!

so what do you think? do you have a favorite outfit that you would like to use as inspiration for a room?

  1. Great rooms, they all look like ones I'd like in my house. I really like the retro kitchen.

  8. I heart all of these, most especially the picture wall (!!) and the draped outdoor dining room. I have these HUGE mesh/sheer drapes from IKEA (inherited with my new house) and had no idea what to do with them. They would be perfect for draping the little bricked patio at the back of my yard ... so inspired.

  11. Ah, I love this post so much!
I don't have a favorite outfit to inspire a room, persay.. but my style is definitely evident in my interior design picks. And i definitely think that fashion/interior design go hand in hand.

    Great post!
